"Cherishing" and the perfect Valentine's Day tunic top!

My three kids love any reason to celebrate! With it being the awkwardness of after Christmas and before Spring, we milk any chance we can get to have fun, including now Roll Up The Rim at Tim Horton’s and the Olympics starting on Friday! Suddenly this time of year isn’t looking so bad!

I hadn't realized before this year just how well placed Valentine's Day really is during a time of year that can be "blah" for all aspects of life, but especially our relationships.

Whenever you celebrate, whether on the day or following, I hope you will get the chance to show appreciation to the ones you love. I really believe that we can never take enough opportunities to express our love. We don’t need a special celebration, but it does help to keep us routinely checking in on our relationships!

My husband and I are doing the Love Dare (by Stephen and Alex Kendrick) right now, and one day that specifically stood out to me was called “Love Cherishes”. The word cherish, that were probably in many of the vows that we said for those who are married, means “to make warm.”

I love that I'm the only one on earth with the honour of being this person to my husband!

We’ve had some Valentine’s Day that held special surprises and big dates, and others where finances were tighter or babysitter were unavailable and it was 100% DIY and homemade. No matter what, it was significant because we were choosing to cherish regardless of our circumstance!

I love planning my date night outfits! When I saw this top from Grace & Lace I knew instantly that this would be our official Valentine’s Day top. I love the romantic floral pattern and the soft blush background that speaks to the promise of spring.

It also pairs beautifully with our new "tribal versus regal" necklace which is a stunning spring blue called "Stormy Weather". You can wear it with any of the extenders we have from the hi-lo extender for a more dramatic, dressy look, to a scalloped extender for a peek-a-boo lace look.

I love how this transitions to a more casual look with a Washed Tencel Cargo Jacket and Indigo Distressed Denim and a plain tank underneath.

Just like mixing antiques with new decor, I love the effortless beauty of a pretty floral top with casual denim.

However you choose to wear the Grace & Lace Prairie Meadow Tunic, you will be glowing and date night ready!

My Valentine's Day will be a special one with my family that will almost certainly include heart shaped pancakes for my babies! I will take a rain check for a date night on a Friday evening when I don't have to worry about getting everyone out the door in the morning!

Happy Valentine's Day to you!
